Writing ... Something I've always enjoyed in its many forms
I've always enjoyed writing and tend to dabble in all sorts!
My first screenplay, with having a young family, took me a good seven years to complete its first draft! After a year or so of editing, I decided to turn it into a novel instead, which is now Hatch, Match, Dispatch. Of course, I am now in the process of rewriting it as a screenplay again.
Novel Ideas and Memoir
I have number of novel ideas that I've started writing and they are ideas, written in my head already, with amazingly strong characters ... these ideas are always ongoing, but I love it! I do have a couple that could be second novels, if I don’t end up writing a sequel to HMD.
After our son was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia last year, I have begun a memoir about Ben’s and our family’s experience through childhood cancer. It’s not something you ever expect to happen, but it does and it did happen to us. It’s a work in progress at the moment, but I am driven to raise awareness of stemcell donation, after Ben underwent a successful stemcell transplant last Autumn 2018 and also to try to help others on the same or a similar path.
If you have a story to tell, I’m open to Ghostwriting, too.
I've written lyrics over many years on and off and have collaborated with a few musicians and in my younger years, sung in a few bands.
I enjoyed writing a piece of music, almost by accident for a children's app a few years back and have also been writing lyrics for a future musical idea, which started as a children's story.
I also wrote a single called 'Never Give Up Faith' - now on iTunes to raise funds for Missing People. See the link on my Kind and Humble page.
Lyrics and Poetry undulate in my life and every so often, I find myself putting pen to paper with some romantic notion or other. One of my latest lyrics is about the courage of the children and families we have met during our experience with childhood cancer. I will write the music one day!
